Agricultural Water Transfers: Alternatives to Buy and Dry in Colorado's South Platte Basin
Type of media:
Powerpoint April 5, 2011. CCC Seminar Series.
Presented by Dieter Erdmann, Colorado Open Lands, and CCC Practitioner Fellow.
This presentation provides the context for a need for new solutions to Colorado's water use. There is a collision course between irrigated agriculture and increasing municipal and industrial water needs in a state with a growing popluation. The problem is most evident in the Platte River basin. Provides analysis of projected impacts if no action is taken, and profiles current efforts to develop techniques for agricultural water sharing. Notes and commentary are available by toggling speach bubble in upper left corner.
