November 3, 2010 | Patrick Flynn hired as CCC Wyss Fellow! We are so pleased to announce the hiring of Patrick Flynn as the Wyss Fellow (Collaborative Conservation Entrepreneur) at the Center for Collaborative Conservation at Colorado State University. Patrick received a master’s in Business from CSU’s Global Social & Sustainable Enterprise program, and he will soon complete his second master’s in the Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics, also from CSU. He will be working full-time for two years on the ecosystem services ‘marketplace’ initiative with a diverse team of stakeholders in northern Colorado spanning the public, private, nonprofit, and academic sectors. The purpose of this project is to design, implement, and evaluate a new voluntary system of payments that support sustainable land use and lead to positive environmental outcomes for northern Colorado. The marketplace will provide local ranchers and farmers with additional income streams linked to good land management and stewardship practices. Through this effort, we aim to conserve the agricultural and natural heritage values we cherish in northern Colorado and to support production of healthy local food, soil, water and wildlife habitat for the benefit of both urban and rural communities. This position will integrate three of Patrick’s passions: conservation, entrepreneurship and environmental markets.
